Kobe Steel seek more iron ore sufficiency

Japan’s Kobe Steel will develop iron ore mines outside to ensure its material sourcing, and Australia will be its desirable destination.

Steel giants as ArcelorMittal, Nippon Steel, Posco and China’s major steelmakers are all aiming higher self-sufficiency in iron ore, as iron ore price is increasing sharply.

Kobe Steel is Japan’s 4th largest steelmaker, and the company has only 10 percent of its iron ore supplies from its own sources currently.
